RYA Dinghy Instructor Pre Entry
Details:
Prior to enrolling on a RYA Dinghy Instructor Course candidates need to have passed the Pre-Entry Assessment. This is a test of your sailing skills and proves that you are ready to undergo Instructor Training. We offer two options you can either attend a straight assessment (about 4 hours) or join us the day before as well for some refresher training.
Overview:
Prior to becoming a RYA Dinghy Instructor, you will need to pass a half day Pre-Entry Assessment. If you're feeling a bit rusty, a day's refresher training can be bolted on to the package.
Course Duration:
- Day 1 Training 0930 to 1700
- Day 2 is Assessment 0930 to finish (varies dependant on group size)
Pre Requisites:
- Experienced and Competent Dinghy Sailor
- Minimum age 15 years

Course Content:
This course covers double handed boat handling skills, which may include sailing backwards, coming alongside a moored boat, picking up a mooring, sailing efficiently on all points of sail, rudderless sailing, anchoring under sail or in fact any part of the National Sailing Scheme.
The training element of these two days is intended to act as a refresher; if you are not already familiar with the skills above then you will need to attend some of the advanced two day dinghy courses. The assessment is carried out by one or more of our RYA Coach Assessors.
