RYA Keelboat Instructor
Aims:
For experienced RYA Keelboat Instructors who will be managing larger fleets or several courses at once, this is the minimum qualification required by a Chief Instructor.
Professional Keelboat Instructors should aim to attain at least this qualification if they wish to progress within the industry. Larger training centres will have several Senior Instructors whilst smaller centres and clubs need at least one RYA Senior Instructor to maintain their RYA recognition.
Course Duration:
5 days - 09.30 to 18.00hrs, with homework most evenings.
This course is usually run Monday to Friday or spread over multiple weekends to suit.
Pre Requisites:
- Minimum age 16 years
- RYA First Aid Certificate or equivalent
- RYA Keelboat Pre Entry (passed within the year prior to the instructor course)
- RYA Powerboat Level 2

Course Content:
The course covers training in teaching techniques afloat and ashore, in order to prepare candidates to instruct the RYA National Sailing Scheme.
Anyone who passes an Instructor Course with us is automatically qualified for inland and coastal instructing.
