RYA Powerboat Level 2 / ICC
Whether you are new to powerboating or have some experience and are looking for certification, the Powerboat Level 2 course could well be for you. Level 2 offers a general introduction to powerboating and teaches core boat handling and safety skills.
The RYA Powerboat Level 2 course is also known as the 'National Powerboat Certificate' and is generally considered as the licence for powerboats; it is often deemed the equivalent to a driving licence. The qualification is widely recognised throughout the world.
Powerboat training with Stormforce Coaching isn't all about the certification, though. The two day course will equip students with the necessary safety skills and help to build confidence but it is also about having fun. Satisfy your need for speed in our relaxed and safe environment with this ever popular powerboat course.
The Powerboat Level 2 course takes two days (0930 to 1700 hrs) to complete.
As one of our most popular training courses, it runs every weekend and frequently during the week. Please contact us if you would like to book the course on a specific date as we are happy to set up courses to accommodate individual needs.
- This course is suitable for beginners and for those drivers with some experience who are looking for formal training.
- Minimum age of 12 years applies; certificates for under 16s will be endorsed as "Not to be in charge of a powerboat unless under the supervision of a responsible adult".
You will find a sample programme of the course below, the exact programme does vary sometimes around tides and weather. This course is largely practical so although there are some theory sections to complete wherever possible this is done on board the powerboat.
The course essentially provides everything you need to get started with an emphasis on you becoming confident and competent at boat handling and being aware of the associated safety consideration and equipment. The RYA Powerboat Level 2 is broadly equivalent to a series of driving lessons, but a lot more fun.

Why choose Stormforce Coaching for this course?:
Stormforce Coaching is a family run business with a strong ethos committed to delivering the best quality training courses. We want you to learn and get the skills you sign up for, but we also want you to have fun.
We've been in the business for over a decade and know what works best. We have 9 RYA Powerboat Instructors on our full time staff, meaning we do not have to rely on external contractors and can offer our customers a consistently high quality course. It doesn't matter which course you book onto or on which date: you will be guaranteed to receive the best level of training possible.
We think it important for our students to learn with high quality, modern kit, so this is what we provide as standard. We update the fleet regularly, with the eldest RIB in our fleet bought new in 2010 and our XS Powerboats (6 & 7m) bought specifically for training purposes.
We also have two RYA Powerboat Trainers among our full time staff (this is the highest powerboat appointment within the RYA schemes). As a result, our Instructors are kept on their toes, delivering a consistently high standard and course content will always be fresh and up to date. We count ourselves lucky to have such a luxury; very few Training Centres have even one RYA Trainer, far less have two and we hope you can benefit from this as much we do.
