RYA Powerboat Level 2 / ICC

Aims:

This 2-day course concentrates mainly on boat handling and safety. It is an introduction to powerboating and encompasses Level 1. The RYA Powerboat Level 2 is also known as the National Powerboat Certificate and is generally considered "the license" for powerboats. Although considered a speed boat/powerboat license it is a fun and relaxed course. We have taught literally thousands of beginners and so far they have all passed.

Course Duration:

Two Days 0930 to 1700. We run this courses every weekend and most weekdays.

Pre Requisites:

• None, this is suitable for beginners and those with experience looking for formal training.
• Minimum age 12 (certificates for under 16s will be endorsed "Not to be in charge of a powerboat unless under the supervision of a responsible adult").

Course Content:

Picking up a mooring, turning in a confined space, anchoring, coming alongside pontoons, man overboard procedures, high speed manoeuvring, towing, basic passage planning, chart work and safety kit. The Level 2 certificate is roughly equivalent to a driving licence. If you require a powerboat license for other European countries, we can also take care of the paperwork for your ICC (International Certificate of Competence), which is subject to a small RYA administration fee for non-RYA members.

Optional Extras:

Experienced powerboaters can attend a shorter 1:1 course which consist of some coaching and a direct assessment.

We run this course every weekend and most weekdays, however there are only limited spaces. Please call if you can't find a date that is suitable as we are often able to set up additional course dates.
