Yachtmaster Pass Rate
RYA Motor Cruising Instructor
Aims:
To train and qualify Yachtmasters to deliver the RYA Helmsman's and RYA Dayskipper Motor Courses at RYA training centres.
Course Duration:
Two Days - 0930 to 1700hrs.
Pre Requisites:
- Minimum age 18 years
- Maximum age 64 years
- To have logged a minimum of 3500 miles
- Medical fitness examination ( ML5 , ENG1 or medical issued by a National Maritime Authority)
- Working knowledge of radar and diesel engines
- Experience of boat handling modern twin engined leisure craft
- Hold a commercial RYA Yachtmaster Offshore Certificate of Competence (Motor)
- In date First Aid Certificate
- RYA Sea Survival Certificate

Course Content:
Much of the Course is spent teaching you how to teach and debrief other students. The trainer will show you some of the tricks of the trade. Those who have experience of instructing in other disciplines will find that some of that experience is relevant, however a good power cruising instructor is, without exception, a good skipper first and foremost.
During your course you will role play the part of the instructor, so you must have a good understanding of your subject and be confident that you are able to demonstrate all the boat handling skills in the Dayskipper Course well.

- 2 days use of our motor cruiser
- 2 days of instruction
- 1 night accommodation on board
- Diesel and on board consumables
- Breakfast, lunch, tea/coffee and snacks on board
- Free berthing at the home port
- 1-year's free introductory RNLI membership
- Free parking at our marina
What's Not Included:
- Evening meal (usually eaten ashore)
- Berthing away from the home port (shared equally among the crew if they want to stay elsewhere)
- Wet Weather gear (£5 per day to hire from us)
