RYA Radar
Aims:
Popular on both sailing and motor boats. Radar is an invaluable aid for navigation and collision avoidance but it is only useful in the hands of a knowledgeable and experienced operator. This course provides the knowledge for you to then gain the experience.
Course Duration:
1 Day 0930 to 1700.
Pre Requisites:
While no previous knowledge is required it is helpful if you have a basic understanding of navigation and collision regulations, this course is aimed at Coastal Skippers. Most students on this course have seen and tried to use a radar set previously but not experienced a great deal of success.
Course Content:
Small craft radar is probably the most versatile of all electronic navigation aids. Over a day's training we can teach you how to adjust the controls, interpret the picture and make use of the set for navigation and collision avoidance. The day usually takes place in our well equipped classroom which is fitted with 8 Radar simulators. Included in the course fee are the RYA courses notes and your certificate.
Booking:
If the dates below do not suit you we can set up a bespoke 1:1 or 2:1 course for you, either using our simulators or on your own boat or a combination of both.
Why choose Stormforce Coaching for this course?:
Although we deliver radar courses aboard students own boats we recommend using a computer simulator. This allows the Instructor to make bits of coastline, buoys and approaching vessel appear on the screen as required. Our main classroom is fitted with seven computer simulators for just this purpose, one machine is front of house and displays on a large plasma screen for students to watch. The remaining six are available for students to then practice on. Like all of our shorebased courses we aim to provide a higher ratio of equipment to students than our competitors. The computers are loaded with three different simulators so that you can try different types of sets.
Price: £98
