Our race yacht goes cruising
"Rafiki sets off on her Atlantic Circuit"

This week we waved Good bye to Cheeki Rafiki (First 40.7) as she set of on her first leg of her winter Atlantic circuit.
Departing from Southampton, her first passage takes her West down the English Channel, round Ushant, across Biscay and down to Cascais a small town near Lisbon in Portugal.
Steve and his seven crew ahve alredy bet both extremes of lots and no wind and are well on their way.
Following a brief stop over in Portugal and a crew change Steve, Ifan and a further 3 crew will head South towards the tropics and Las Palmas in Gran Caneria.
There Rafiki will join a flotilla of yachts about to head across the Atlantic Ocean with the ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers). Doug and a fresh crew of 7 others sailors will join the boat in Las Palmas and prepare her for the crossing.
We then commence an exciting season of Caribbean racing before heading back in the spring of 2012 via the Azores and returning to the UK just in time for the Solent summer race events.
