RSYC Frostbite Series

Our crew aboard "Brizo Vader" sailed races 9 and 10 of the RSYC Frostbite Series today, taking two 2nd places and securing an overall win in the series. "Brizo-Vader" crossed the first start line this morning knowing that "Jammy" (J80) was only two points behind in the series and had to be beaten to maintain a lead.
The breeze this morning was 15 knots, easing steadily. "Arabella," J-/Boats new rocket ship led the first race with "Brizo Vader" finishing second, ahead of "Jammy." This win against "Jammy" took the pressure of the crew and meant that as long as "Brizo Vader" started and finished the final race without any penalty that she would win the series outright. The final race was therefore a bit of a formality but a good sail all the same and resulted in another second.
"Brizo Vader" is our Cork 1720, a high performance racing keelboat and used for a mixture of training and racing. Our race events and campaigns are open to anyone who has a basic knowledge of sailing and wants to learn to race or improve their racing.
The RSYC (Royal Southampton Yacht Club) Frostbite Series is the only race series in the central Solent in January, February and early March. It attracts all levels of racers from Hamble and Southampton and is popular with race crews who want to sail year round. Some boats use it as a warm up for the season.
"Brizo" our sponsor, is a new product from "Hull Mate" that allows yachts to clean their underside in a few minutes without the hassles and cost of lifting. Needles to say we now use it on all of our fleet and in particular "Vader"
