RYA Powerboat Level 2 (ZapCat)

AIM: If you want to buy a new Zap Cat or race in the Zap Cat series then you need to hold the RYA Powerboat Level 2 Certificate. We could never understand why people buying a 4m tiller steered catamaran speed boat were expected to train in a wheel steered mono hull RIB, so we introduced Zap Cat specific training.

Certain parts of the Level 2 course lend themselves to the more traditional RIB (for example anchoring or navigation) so we decided to amalgamate the two courses and provide you with training in both high-speed tiller steered craft and wheel steered RIBs.

DURATION: Two Days 0900 to 1700

PRE REQUISITES: Minimum age 12 (certificates for under 16s will be endorsed "Not to be in charge of a powerboat unless under the supervision of a responsible adult").

COURSE CONTENT: You will spend one day on board one of our wheel steered RIBs learning those parts of the Level 2 course that suits these boats. You will then spend your second day in a Zap Cat learning high speed handling and slow speed tiller steered manoeuvring.

Certification is provided on the second day and this course is run at a 2:1 ratio instead of the usual 3:1 for our normal Level 2 courses.

This course is sold to pairs of students (1:1 tuition is double price), and primarily aimed at new racing teams.
