RYA Dayskipper 9 Day Combined Shorebased & Practical
INTRODUCTION: Although the Dayskipper Practical can be taken as a stand alone course the "Nine Day Shorebased and Practical Combined Course" has rapidly become our most popular option. If you are looking for the stand alone five day practical courses please return to the Sail Cruising menu on the left.
AIM: Rather than take two five day courses (Dayskipper Shorebased and Dayskipper Practical) we have rolled them into a one week block saving you a day, saving repetition of learning and allowing you to complete the whole Dayskipper with only one week off work. Most importantly the day we have shaven off is from the shorebased section so you still have five days sailing.
DURATION: Nine Days. Saturday to Tuesday run 1000 to 1700 and are shorebased. Wednesday to Sunday are afloat living on board one of our yachts.
PRE REQUISITES:
· Minimum Age 16
· 5 days on board.
· 100 miles logged
· 4 night hours on board a sailing yacht.
· Basic helming ability.
· RYA Compentant Crew (recommended)
· RYA SRC Course (useful).
COURSE CONTENT: Pilotage, boat handling, seamanship and navigation. This course gives you the chance learn the navigation skills in the classroom before setting sail and putting them into practice. Once you have passed the Dayskipper practical we are happy to also issue you with the ICC (International Certificate of Competence) for sail craft up to 24m (subject to RYA license fee). The ICC is available to UK citizens and residents.
