Super Yacht Foundation Module - 3 Weeks

Super Yacht Foundation Module - 3 Weeks

The Super Yacht Industry is very competitive game to get into. Thousands of “wannabe” crew are attracted by the sunshine, high salaries and travel. If the super yacht industry appeals to you then there is no question that you need the basic training in safety, seamanship and boat handling on your CV before anyone will even consider you. Some of this training is legally required to work at sea; some is expected by the industry.

Our Super Yacht Foundation Course is three weeks (18 days of training) and aimed at those over eighteen who want to enter the Super Yacht Industry. Training is provided in 4 distinct areas

Powerboating

All super yachts carry one or more tenders on board. These are generally small powerboat ranging from 4-12m. Crew are expected to drive guests, make shore runs, provide safety cover and tow water-skiers and inflatables with these craft. The 2 day powerboat course both trains you and licenses you as a driver.

PWC (Personal Water Craft)

Many super yachts carry a small fleet of Jet Skis on board. More and more countries expect drivers to be certified. Included in your course is a day of Jet Ski training and the license.

Seamanship & Navigation

Training both ashore (Dayskipper Shorebased) and afloat (Competent Crew or Dayskipper Practical) will introduce you to may of the skills required by efficient deck hands. If you have the relevant existing experience you will take the Dayskipper Practical. If not you will take the RYA Competent Crew. This training will also cover many of the areas required to assist with a watch at sea.

Marine Safety Training

The four STCW ’95 Courses are compulsory on board all super yachts. These four courses are sometimes known as STCW Basic Safety Week. They cover fire fighting, Health and Safety at Sea, abandoning Ship and First Aid. We also provide you VHF radio license so you can communicate between the tenders and mother ship.
