RYA Dinghy Instructor Pre Entry

AIM: Prior to enrolling on a RYA Dinghy Instructor Course candidates need to have passed the Pre-Entry Assessment. This is a test of you sailing skills and proves that you are ready to undergo Instructor Training. We offer two days coaching and assessment to ensure the best chance of a pass.

 

DURATION: 2 Day – Day 1 Training 0900 to 1700. Day 2 is Assessment 0900 to finish (varies dependant on group size).

 

PRE REQUISITES:

·     Experienced and Competent Dinghy Sailor

·     Minimum age 16

 

COURSE CONTENT: Double handed boat handling skills which may include sailing backwards, coming alongside a moored boat, picking up a mooring, sailing efficiently on all point of sail, rudderless sailing, anchoring under sail or in fact any part of the National Sailing Scheme.

 

The training element of these two days is intended to act as a refresher, if you are not already familiar with the skills above then you will need to attend some of the advanced two day dinghy courses. Please be aware that the assessment requires at least 11 knots of wind and is carried out by a RYA Coach Assessor.
