Yacht Maintenance

AIM: If you want to learn more about maintaining your yacht, then this is the course for you. It is particularly useful for blue water cruisers, live-aboard and professional skippers.

 
DURATION: 5 consecutive days (1000-1700 each day).

 
PRE REQUISITES: None.

 
COURSE CONTENT: A mixture of hands on practical and classroom sessions will give you plenty opportunity to become a more self-reliant skipper.

• Yacht rigging, set up, basic tuning and going aloft
• Deck gear, servicing winches and jammers
• Whipping and splicing (3 plait, double braid and dyneema)
• GRP, fibre glass and gel coat repairs
• Hull & deck cleaning
• 12 Volt DC electrics and marine systems
• Batteries, charging and alternative power
• Fault finding and troubleshooting
• Connecting to the AC shore power
• Diesel engines
• Outboard engines
• Repairing inflatables (RIBs /tenders)
