RYA Dinghy Level 3

AIM: This Improver Course bridges the gap between the Level 2 (Basic Skills) course and the five Advanced Modules. It is intended to make the transition easier for those sailors wishing to progress through the scheme, allowing them opportunity to develop their technique and also have a taster of what the Advanced Courses have to offer.

DURATION: Two Days 0900 to 1700 or four evenings 1800 to 2115.

PRE REQUISITES: RYA Dinghy Level 2 or equivalent knowledge/experience.

COURSE CONTENT: This course is taught mainly in double handed dinghies and includes

·     Rig set up for different weather conditions

·     Rigging, hoisting, trimming and dropping the spinnaker

·     Development of trim, balance, sail setting and centre board adjustment

·     Man Overboard procedure in various conditions

·     Starting Procedure for dinghy racing

·     Use of local tide tables and tidal curves.
