RYA Safety Boat

AIM: To provide dinghy instructors, windsurf instructors, club race officers, club coaches, club safety boat drivers, escort boat crews and lifeboat crews the skills required to assist, tow and recover small craft and their crews.

DURATION: Two Days 0900 to 1700

PRE REQUISITES:

·     Minimum age 16 (essential)

·     RYA Powerboat Level 2 (essential)

·     RYA First Aid (recommended)

·     RYA SRC (recommended)

COURSE CONTENT: The first day is spent learning how to cope with the various forms of craft (windsurfers, kayaks, canoes, optimists, single handed dinghies, double handed dinghies, kite surfers, multi hulls, keelboats and of course people. The second day is scenario based giving you a chance to put your new skills and knowledge into practice and includes fleet rescue. Also covered is mark laying, race management, towing, safety boat positioning and other related topics.
