RYA First Aid

RYA First Aid

AIM: In a medical emergency a little First Aid knowledge and immediate action can save lives, especially in remote locations. This course is designed to provide a working knowledge of First Aid for people using small craft and to support skippers. As well as being useful for leisure sailors and motor boaters it fulfils the requirements for professional skippers of small craft working within 60 miles of a safe haven. The course is recommended by the MCA and HSE, and satisfies the requirements of some categories of commercial work afloat, including RYA instructors and holders of certificates of competence.

DURATION: 1 day 1000 to 1700.

PRE REQUISITES: None.

COURSE CONTENT: First Aid and resuscitation techniques for yachtsmen, including knowledge of the treatment for hypothermia. The RYA First Aid Course is unique in First Aid terms, as it is aimed at water sports enthusiasts and takes a realistic look at the levels of First Aid that can be performed in a yacht, powerboat or dinghy. Our instructors fully appreciate the difference between conventional First Aid and RYA First Aid (where the ambulance is not just ten minutes away). The certificate lasts for three years.

BOOKING: If the dates below do not suit you we can set up a bespoke 1:1, 2:1 or group course at a time that suits you.
